Why winter can work in your favour
Demand is lower in the colder months, so dates are easier to get. If your timing is flexible, a winter move can mean more choice and less competition for the day you want.
Eight tips for a smooth winter move
- Clear and salt walkways, steps and the driveway before the crew arrives
- Lay down old towels or cardboard inside doorways to catch slush
- Keep the heat on at both the old and new place
- Protect electronics by letting them reach room temperature before plugging in
- Wrap furniture well, since cold and damp are hard on wood and fabric
- Keep a smaller bag with hats, gloves and warm layers handy
- Allow extra time, as winter driving is slower
- Have a backup plan for severe weather and stay in touch with your movers
Our crews move through Ontario winters every year and come prepared for the conditions. Book early, plan for the weather, and the season takes care of itself.
